On June 24, East Toronto Health Partners (ETHP), the Ontario Health Team (OHT) serving East Toronto, hosted its summer planning session in the East End’s Golden Mile.
More than 100 attendees, including staff from our 100-plus partner organizations, patient, family, and community advisors, as well as community health ambassadors, gathered for the biannual session. This event offers individuals from across ETHP the opportunity to connect in person, receive updates from the OHT and provide feedback on projects and initiatives.
Colleagues from Ontario Health (OH) joined us to provide updates and answer questions regarding OH priorities and progress for OHTs.
During the session, our partners:
- Received updates on ETHP’s acceleration work including the 2024/25 fiscal year operational priorities;
- Learned more about ETHP’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion work, including our focus this year on promoting access to Indigenous cultural safety training for our partner organizations;
- Celebrated our achievements over the past six months, including the groundbreaking event at the Thorncliffe Park Community Hub; ETHP’s new shared purpose and belief statements; and Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) designation; and
- Discussed the various transit and development projects planned for East Toronto and brainstormed how we might prepare for the impact this will have on population health in our community.
A number of our community advisors including Mansureen Al Nur, Abdul Rashid Athar, Mohammad Shabani, Razia Rashed, and Vicky Beach, facilitated the session and provided remarks.
Thank you to our partners for attending the session and sharing insights on how we can continue to improve and integrate care for our East Toronto community! Special thanks to Bryan Peart, Golden Mile Coordinator with Working Women, for welcoming us to his neighborhood and sharing insights into the development of the Golden Mile.
We look forward to co-designing the future of care and sharing more updates from our OHT soon!
